Users can add frequently used items (from the CHDK menu) to the CHDK "User Menu".

Having all of them in one place enables quicker access to such items without having to browse for it each time.

Setup

  • Open the CHDK main menu, go to "OSD parameters" and set "User Menu Enable" to "Edit".
  • Then go to "User Menu" item (one line above) and press the SET button to enter the user menu.
  • Press the Display button once; it looks like you are back in "normal " browsing but you are actually in "Edit" mode.

Now browse through the CHDK menu to find the item(s) you want to add to your "User Menu".

When you found it, press ERASE (or half press SHOOT if you don't have an erase button) once to add the selected item to the "User menu". To add more entries, just browse to the item you want and then add it the same way.

To complete the job, browse to "User Menu Enable" again and set one of the following options:

  • 'On Dire(ct)' – pressing <ALT> gives the “User Menu “ on LCD,
  • 'On' - you have to press <ALT> and then MENU (possibly with a half press of SHOOT, see below) to get your “User menu “ on LCD,
  • 'Off' - if you prefer to browse to your "User Menu" via "OSD parameters".

When you select 'On', the option "User Menu as Root" allows you do swap the behaviour of pressing MENU with MENU+half-SHOOT. With "User Menu as Root" off, MENU gives the normal CHDK menu and MENU with half pressed SHOOT gives "User Menu". With "User Menu as Root" turned on, MENU gives "User Menu" and MENU with half pressed SHOOT gives the CHDK menu.
